Statement of Philosophy
1. We believe in the value of fair treatment of all people.
2. We believe teaching the art of dance is a privilege.
3. We believe each student should be treated with respect and encouragement.
4. We believe in bringing out the best in each dancer, helping them reach their
5. We believe that each child has different talents and it’s our job to develop
We believe dance is an instrument and can help children develop a positive
sense of self.
We believe that children deserve to have Instructors who are capable, caring,
and whose values enable them to be excellent role models.
8. We believe above all in offering an environment that let children enjoy the
art of dance while having fun as they develop their craft.
9. Children are always accepted to our center regardless of race, creed,
national origin or gender.
Classes Early Childhood Classes: We offer the following 30-45 min 8 week Early Childhood Classes; Mini
Movers, Pre-Hip Hop, Pre-Boys Hip Hop, Pre-Ballet, and Pre-Jazz. Classes
offered each session are based on interest and enrollment.
We offer 45-minute Specialty Elective Classes every 6-8 weeks. Styles
offered include but are not limited to Hip Hop, Boys Hip Hop, Breakdancing, Jazz,
Ballet, Contemporary, and Tap which run every 6-8 weeks. These classes are
open to all students including company members, dancers that would like to
develop their technique, or anyone who just wants to try out different styles
of dance to find the right fit for them. Specialty Elective Classes are divided
by Beginner, Beginner/Intermediate, Intermediate, and Intermediate/Advanced. If
a child is exceeding the expectations of the level they are in, they will be
offered the option to move up to the next class level.
Adult Classes: We offer 1 hr. 6-8 week Adult Classes for Hip Hop, Ballet, Contemporary,
and Jazz. These classes are divided by Open Level, Beginner, and Intermediate,
Recital Classes and Companies Early
Childhood Performance Classes: We offer Early Childhood Performance Classes for ages 4-6 years in Pre-Hip Hop and
Pre-Jazz. We offer Early Childhood Performance Classes for ages 5-8 years in
Pre-Ballet. Recital Classes begin in September. A Recital will be held every
year in May. Early Childhood Performance Class enrollment is offered in August
and again in January based on availability in case a student would like to
take regular classes before deciding if they would like to perform in the
recital. With joining a performance class, it is a commitment that you as the
parents along with your child make which means that your weekly recital class
must be made a priority. With this being said, each Early Childhood performer
may only miss 5 classes for the performance year. If you miss more than this
number, you will be required to schedule private lessons with your Instructor
or risk your child not being able to perform in all or portions of certain
dances. We encourage all students to schedule private lessons when they are
unable to attend a class where new choreography is learned. In the event the
absences from classes become an inference for the students’ performance in the
recital, then the student may be asked to leave the Company and No Refunds for
the class will be given. Tickets are no longer included in your fees for any
performances. Students will not need tickets for the recital.
Company: We offer the following Dance Companies at DLD Dance Center: Hip Hop, Boys Hip
Hop, Jazz, Breakdancing, Adult Hip Hop & Jazz and Adult Contemporary that are by audition
or recommendation only. Companies are divided by level with our Beginner
Companies not requiring an audition while all Intermediate-Advanced, Adult, and
Competitive Companies do require an audition. Auditions are held every August
and returning members must re-audition yearly. Each Company performs in the
Recital along with our Annual Hip Hop Dance Production. Intermediate-Advanced
and Adult Companies will also be given the opportunity to perform in DLD Dance
Companies Professional Dance Showcase. There is now a $30 participation fee for
Intermediate-Advanced Company Members to perform in our showcase, this covers
rehearsals and a front or second row seat for student performers. There are
weekly Company Rehearsals which are 1-2 hrs. for all Companies. Company members
are required to take 1 additional Elective Specialty Class per week
for (4) sessions from September to May which is included in their Company fee;
this does not include camps or classes over the summer. There is a separate fee
for participating in the Summer Company. At least 2 of these sessions must
directly correlate to the company they are in. It is also strongly
suggested that Company members be enrolled in another Elective Specialty
Class through DLD Dance Center but this is not included in
your Company fee. With joining a company, it is a commitment that you as
the parents along with your child make which means that Company and Elective
Classes must be made a priority. With this being said, each company member may
only miss 5 company and 5 elective classes for the performance year. If you
miss more than this number, students will be required to schedule private
lessons with their Instructor or risk not being able to perform in all or
portions of certain dances. We encourage all students to schedule private
lessons when they unable to attend company class. In the event the absences
from Company and Elective Classes become an inference to the Company and
Students, then the student may be asked to leave the Company and No Refunds for
the class will be given. There will also be mandatory all company rehearsals
which will be required for performance in productions and recitals. There are
no additional fees associated with these additional rehearsals. Company members
do run the risk of being taken out of dances if they are consistently missing
class, rehearsals and/or not actively rehearsing at home causing them to fall
behind from the class in performance routines. Tickets are no longer included
in your fees for any performances. Students will not need tickets for the
production or the recital. The showcase participation fee covers at ticket for
the performance for those students that would like to participate.
Criteria 1. Must maintain an encouraging attitude, good
sportsmanship, and a positive representation of DLD’s principles at rehearsals,
competition, and any other performances.Examples: If you’re taken out
of a section of a dance you need to maintain a positive attitude and still give
a 100% toward the sections you are in. If you or a team member makes a mistake
at competition, you must maintain a positive attitude understanding that
mistakes will happen, encouraging your team members, turning these types of
situations into a positive learning experience, not a negative experience. When
attending a competition, it is important to encourage the other teams and never
talk down to or badly about another team.
2. Must also be enrolled in another Intermediate,
Intermediate/Advanced, or Advanced Company at DLD.
3. Must audition and pick up choreography quickly in
order to be offered a spot on the competitive team.
4. Must meet attendance requirements for rehearsals
be available for competition weekends blocking off all dates since schedules are
only received 1-2 weeks prior to each competition.
6. Must pay all fees and competition fees by due
dates in order to compete.

at least 15 minutes to fill out registration forms. Please note: If
you are consistently enrolled in dance classes at DLD Dance Center you will not
have to pay a Registration Fee each year. If you leave the studio for a long
period of time and decide to come back, you will be charged a new Registration
Fee. If you take the Summer off from the studio and return again in the Fall
you will not need to pay a new Registration Fee.

If a student misses 2 classes in a row and we have not been contacted by the
parent as to why, we will call or email to follow up and make sure everything
is okay. If a child has missed 4 or more classes in a row with no contact from
the parents and we unable to get in contact with the parents, we will assume
your child is no longer taking the class. Once a child has missed 6 or more
classes in a row we may have to ask the child to not return as they will have
missed a month and a half of classes which can be crucial if working towards a
recital or performance.
The student may be able to make up their Recital or Company classes by scheduling
a private lesson with their Instructor however there would be an additional fee
for those lessons. 7 week classes can only be made up with another 7
week class regardless if it is the same style of dance the student is currently
taking providing the class is not full and the make-up occurs during the
session the child is enrolled in, not before or after. There are no make-up
classes for Company and Recital Classes. Please Note: No Refunds
will be given for any classes. If
you are going to be absent, please call or email the studio phone and do not
contact Instructors directly.
Private Lessons can be scheduled to make up Recital or Company Classes as well
as just to improve or focus on a dance style. Many students choose to take
Private Lessons in preparation to audition for a Dance Team and we are more
than happy to help! Private Lessons Fees are $50 per lesson for individuals and
$75 for Duos/Trios. Group Private Lessons are also available by appointment for
Bridal Parties and other group events but the Fee will depend on how many students
would be in attendance. Private Lessons can be scheduled with any of our
instructors depending on availability.
Dress Rehearsal and Performances
There is a mandatory Dress Rehearsal for all Performing Groups (Recital and
Companies) for any performance they are participating in. Every student must
attend all Dress Rehearsals scheduled for Showcase, Productions, or Recital in
order to participate. Professional Dance Showcase (optional for Company Students)
will be held in December, Hip Hop Dance Production (Mandatory for Companies) in
March, and Recital (Mandatory for Company and Recital Classes) in May each
year. Performance Dates and Dress Rehearsal dates and times are given out in
the Fall with the start of classes.
Recital tickets are not included in your fees for the year and must be
purchases at DLD Dance Center or online. Monthly Newsletters
Monthly Newsletters will be emailed to all parents giving updates on studio

Chronic Disruptive Behavior Policy
We will make every effort to work with the parents of children having
difficulties in class. We are here to serve and protect all of our children,
although; children displaying chronic disruptive behavior which has been
determined to be upsetting to the physical or emotional well-being of any other
child, or teacher, may require the following actions:
Initial Consultation The director and instructor may require the parent(s) of any child who
attends the studio to meet for a conference. The problem will be defined on
paper. Goals will be established and the parent will be involved in creating
approaches towards solving the problem.
If the initial plan for helping the child fails, the parent(s) will again be
required to meet with the director and instructor. Another attempt will be made
to identify the problem outlining new approaches to the problem, and discuss
the consequences if progress is not apparent.
When the previous attempts have been followed and no progress has been made
towards solving the problem, the child may be suspended from the studio
indefinitely. The studio may immediately suspend a child at any time he/she
exhibits a behavior, which is harmful to him/her or others. A parent may be
called at any time the child exhibits uncontrollable behavior that cannot be modified
by the instructor. That parent may be asked to take the child home immediately.
The studio reserves the right to cancel the enrollment of a child for the
1. Non-payment or excessive late payment of fees.
2. Not observing the rules of the studio.
3. Physical and/or verbal abuse of staff or children, by a parent or
child. Sick Policy
You are the best judge of your child’s health and we trust you will not bring a
sick child to the studio. However, we may call you to come and pick-up your
child if your child’s instructor feels that your child has become too sick to
be in class that day. We understand that children get colds and you will not be
called if that is the case. The following reasons would determine if your child
must go home:
1. Fever of 100 degrees or more
2. Inflammation of the eyes
4. An incidence of diarrhea
5. Communicable disease
We will hold yearly fundraisers that the Recital and Company Classes may
participate in if they would like. Our Annual Fundraiser allows us to keep our
tuition costs affordable, helps us to purchase new music, props, and equipment
needed for classes and performances, and assists with our Scholarship Program.
DLD Dance Center and DLD Dance Center Staff are not liable for any injuries
sustained by any of our students while they are taking classes at our facility
or when they are performing out for the Recital or any other DLD Dance Center
events they may participate in.
Please Note that by enrolling in classes at DLD Dance Center, you have
agreed to these Rules and Policies above and it is your sole responsibility to
become familiar with them.
